A council is threatening to shut down one of the government’s quarantine hotels for foreign travellers over fears that infection control failures led to a Covid outbreak among guests spreading to the local community.
Reading council accused the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) of being “very irresponsible” after ignoring its repeated concerns about safety failings at the Penta hotel in Reading town centre.
